Chemically, lutein is a caratenoid present in various vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, orange pepper, kiwi, grapes, orange juice, zucchini and pumpkin.
Lutein has been used to prevent eye diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, retinitis pigmentosa, among others.
