Jabuticaba is the commonly known name of Myrciaria cauliflora, a Brazilian grapetree. Jabuticaba, is a tree native to Minas Gerais and São Paulo states in Brazil.
The delicious fruit of Jabuticaba has one to four small seeds. Its flavor is slightly acid like Muscadine grapes. Traditionally, Jabuticaba fruit is used in the preparation of tarts, jellies, jams and wine. The pulp is low in calories and carbohydrates and is a source of potent antioxidant compounds, anthocyanins, vitamin C E, folic acid, niacin, riboflavin and thiamine. Also, it has minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, copper, manganese and zinc.
