Anamu (Petiveria Alliacea L.) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the tropics of Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Africa. Traditionally, the infusions of the leaves of this plant are used as antispasmodic, diuretic, stimulant, anti-inflammatory, antitumoral, antiamoebic, among others. P. Alliacea contain several biologically active phytochemicals. Several in vitro studies validate the traditional uses given to this plant.
